One of the reasons I was so attracted to Homefront when it was announced was its view of a possible near future for America where the North Koreans become a major military player.  That coupled with Global economic and social problems and the United States soon finds itself under the boot of an oppressive, foreign regime.  Now don’t get me wrong, I am not excited by this prospect, rather I find it frightening, but it does say something to the power of the video above and how the developers and writers of Homefront see a near future America.  As the world stage plays out How closely will it mirror the events of Homefront?  All we can say for now that it is not looking good for the future…

Are events unfolding as Homefront has prophesised?  Well lets just say things are getting ahead of schedule.  Lets look at the score so far:

  • Mar 2010 – Torpedoes sink South Korean warship, Cheonan. 46 sailors killed.
  • December 2011 – Kim Jong-Il passes away, he is succeeded by his son Kim Jong-un (Homefront says this happens in 2012).

Now this post is actually tongue-in-cheek, but there is an eerie similarity thus far.  It reminds me of a post I did in the past where world events were mirroring those as was described as the story of an early Ghost Recon game.  Lets hope that the Homefront Prophecies’ stop here, but if they don’t, I will be here to bring it to your attention.
