Fatalities, babalities, and friendships, oh my!

Back in the early nineties, when fighting games were king, I was always about the Mortal Kombat series rather than Street Fighter (outside of Sega’s family of fighters).  Fast forward nearly two decades later and fighting games have been having somewhat of a renaissance.  Fighting games never truly left, but with the new age revivals of fighting game rivals, Street Fighter, and now Mortal Kombat, it feels like we have come full circle.

I have tried the return to my past by purchasing the recent Street Fighter revivals, but I soon discovered what I already knew, I never was the biggest SF fan, and I quickly lost interest.  With the arrival of Mortal Kombat this week I am genuinely excited!  Again, I have not read too much about what they are doing, but it is my hope that it retains much of the original flavour and style as possible.

It has been a good long while since I have fought with my friends in a fighting game on a regular basis.  I think that is about to change starting this Tuesday!
