Forza Motorsport 4: The Leaked Footage

What does this mean?  Is it April fools?

Yesterday was April 1st.  Being April 1st it is the gaming industries biggest day to play jokes on their community.  Yesterday did produce a bombshell leaked video, and if it is proven to be authentic, Forza Motorsport 4 is on track to be the greatest video game race of all time, without hyperbole!  I am really hoping it is the real thing, gamers with more time and skill than myself are working hard to uncover this video’s secrets.  Without further delay, here is the video in question which Microsoft has been working overtime to take down from the internet:

Is this the real deal?

There is quite a lot to digest from this video.  But here are the highlights of the features they discussed within:

  • Kinect head tracking
  • Vastly improved graphics including image based lighting
  • LMP’s
  • Impressive detailing
  • More than 80 manufacturers
  • Revamped career mode
  • 5 all new locales
  • No controller required
  • Hollywood style visual and audio effects
  • Car Clubs
  • Emphasis on User Generated Content
  • 16 cars on track (more than double the size of Forza 3)

That all sounds excellent!  One thing about the video may trip all this up.

AMG Transport Dynamics, or ASKLON, is listed as one of the games manufacturers.  Now if you don’t recall who this is, perhaps you need to brush up on your Halo.  Now it wouldn’t be the first time ‘Halo’ made a guest appearance in a game, but to appear in a simulation franchise like Forza may throw water on this fire.

Without this video I do know Forza is going to be a tremendous game this Fall, but if this video is correct, we may be in for more than we bargained for!

[UPDATE: I think I may have caught a glimpse of the Top Gear test track in the video!]
