The Sporto Reporto: Playoff Success

50th Goal

Over a month has passed since I last updated, and a lot has transpired in my inaugural season’s closing games.  For something a little different I will bullet-point the highlights:

  • Strong Finish: After hitting the skids after the All-Star break I came on strong to finish the regular season on a seven-game winning streak!  My record at the end was 51 wins, 24 losses and 7 losses in shoot-outs.  My record was good for second-place in my division behind Vancouver and the forth seed entering the playoffs.
  • 50 Goal Rookie Season:  I made this one by the skin of my teeth.  I went on a tear to end the season and picked up my 50th goal in the final game of the season in Calgary.  So with the ‘Big Club’ I played 67 games after being called up, scoring 50 goals and 41 assissts!  I also logged 64 penalty minutes and had was a +31.
  • Round 1 – Dallas: After splitting the first 4 games in round one of the playoffs I eventually persevered and won the series in 6 games.  It was an extremely tough series and could have gone either way.  Overtime success allowed me to proceed to the next round
  • Round 2 – Vancouver: While Vancouver fought me even tougher than Dallas, I found myself on the fortunate end of the bounces.  While I did sweep the series, each game was one by a goal except the last where the margin was two.  I had bested my season rivals when it counted most!

Stay tuned for my next entry to find out the exciting conclusion to this hard fought second-season!  (Even I don’t know how it will finish yet!)
