SG’s Clancy-verse: MMO’s, Vegas, GRAW DLC, and End War

Sum of All Clancy Games

tclogo I have been a big fan of the games that have carried the Tom Clancy brand since they first appeared on the Xbox over 5 years ago.  Just yesterday we have discovered Ubisoft’s master plan to move its franchises into the future.  Ubi has agreed to buy all "intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name, on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products".  This move was done to pave the way for the now announced MMO based in the Tom Clancy universe (Clancy-verse) of games and has already been earmarked to have a $50 million budget.  I myself, of course, will be very excited to see what this project will have me spending countless hours on.

Nice to see a little nod to our favourite stealth-action hero (sorry Snake) in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, which was just released this week.  I am always game for more Rainbow Six goodness, and Vegas 2 delivers!  I made an unusual comparison for this game.  I likened it to one of my all-time favourites, Phantasy Star Online.  The similarity comes in the Terrorist Hunt mode.  You and up to 3 buddies clear areas of their enemies while gaining experience points to level up your character and unlock more powerful weapons and armour.  Sounds a little familiar, doesn’t it?.

I managed to, with a little help from my friends, to complete all of the new co-op missions that were available in the two recent DLC pack for GRAW 2.  Arguably one of the better co-op experiences on the 360.  When will we next see some new Ghost Recon action?  I suspect it may be awhile, but remember, good thing come to those who wait.

Begin War

And for the newest TC game on the block we have End War.  An RTS built for the ground up on consoles, EW hooks are that the game can be played entirely with voice and that there will be a persistent online world where your battles will take place.  A bonus disk was included in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 which showed a quick glimpse of the gameplay.  So far it looks very promising.

I like CFL Football, Video Games, and Social here I am!

Ubisoft is beating the franchise into the ground. I’m, glad they are taking there time with Splinter Cell though. They need to space Vegas and GR every 2 years at least.

I dont like "Green eggs and Ham, Sam I am"……
