Myself at the poker table

Summer may be on the downwards slide, that only means that the gaming scene is heating up!  This upcoming Wednesday Texas Hold ’em is scheduled to make it’s long awaited debut on the Xbox Live Arcade scene, at least we think it is.  Texas Hold ’em was originally anounced early this year to be a free download for a limited time due to a sponsership deal with River Belle Casino.  It is now widley believed that the sponsership deal that was to make this game free has fallen through, and thta this game will be available for as of yet undisclosed cost.

I for one hope that it arrives this Wednesday, and I fully expect to have to pay for it upon release. I am also hoping that it will cost no more than 400 points, especially when MS originally announced it was to be free.  I am not the greatest poker player in the world and I am looking forward to the opportunity to play over Xbox Live to hone my skills.  Sure I could do it on my PC but I like the idea of sinking into my couch to play rather than playing the bland versions that are scattered over the ‘net.  Also it will be a lot of fun playing cards with my friends (ala UNO).  So MS, it is time to show your cards and deal us in on some Texas Hold ’em!

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Some thoughts as of late:

  • Looking forward to the upcoming demo for Splinter Cell: Double Agent that will be made available over the Marketplace.  I am especially interested in how the new and improved multiplayer stacks up.
  • Dead Rising has been a very pleasent surprise this Summer.  It is nice to have a bonified hit game come out this time of year.  Do yourself a favor my downloading the demo or purchase the game.  You won’t be disapointed!
  • Halo movie is too far off!  In the meantime we will have to hold ourselves off with the upcoming novel, comic series, and of course Halo 3 itself (which I suspect is at least 9-15 monts off yet, expect a November 2007 release even though it is comming along rather well).
  • Microsoft, please make a) More game specific faceplates available to the consumer  b) an honest to goodness arcade stick for Xbox Live Arcade and fighting games!

That is it for now!  Stay tuned for more at the Haunted House, till then stay frosty!

TX hold em will be fun ,its just a shame that we need to resort to XLA games for some mulit player fun. Prey and Dead Rising make for some fun offline. Its all about the fall line up.

  2. Sean R. says:

Looks like poker will be free for the first 48 hours then 800 MP after that.  You can check the link on my Space.

  3. I says:

Guess I’ll finally learn how to play Poker, eh?
